Oh, Come

Annabelle spent days holed up in her room sculpting and painting this nativity set for me as a Christmas gift. Her father made trips to the store for more sculpey, provided advice at crucial moments, and did all the baking.  I love this gift with all my heart. I love that I can see her fingerprints in the clay.
I love how the baby Jesus can sit in his little makeshift cradle--but he can also be cradled in his mother's arms. (Will you look at his cute, tiny baby-face features?)
I love the big-eyed, adoring cow. And I love how Joseph leans on his staff, looking at his family with wonder and pride. (It's such a good story, whatever you believe or don't.)
Annabelle said she's sorry she didn't have time to make wise men--she had to move on to making her father's felt communicator-pin Christmas ornaments. But she promises to add to the set next year--I, for one, can't wait.

That is the most precious thing I have ever seen! She's a very talented young lady...and you are one lucky mom to receive such a wonderful gift.

Hand made gifts are the best because you know that they have come from the heart and you will always hold them near to your heart. I have some that are 25 years old from my adult children and not only do they reside stashed away for safe keeping but also in my heart. They still make me and their father hand made gifts and we still treasure them too. What a wonderful little treasure you have been given.

Kathleen--I was thinking today about how I know this will come out every Christmas forever, and how much we'll all enjoy it when she's grown...
